Wikipedia attributes the quote originally to the humorist Finley Peter Dunne in the early 1900s. He was of course speaking at the time of the role of newspapers.
Newspapers may be disappearing today but the need to sometimes afflict the comfortable is not.
The Afflicter is the hobby and part-time business venture of a long-time writer, editor and professional researcher in Northern California.
The afflicted, who the Afflicter serves, are anyone who’ve been touched by the current epidemic of desperation over personal and family finances.
The comfortable to be afflicted are all of those institutions who have contributed the current situation and who are still profiting from it, from the major financial companies who’ve mislead us about the terms of their products, to small online scammers who are exploiting thousands of people’s desperation to make an extra buck.
